To Autumn…

Autumn sweet and tender

A soft embrace from a long-forgotten friend

To you, I solemnly surrender

It’s time again for the yearly descent

A crunchy carpet of fiery leaves

I feel reborn, refreshed, and new

And while some still the summer grieve

I think you were well overdue

I’ve had enough of the loud summer heat

I swam in the sea and basked in the sun

My heart aches for some rain and a quiet retreat

Let me show them that in the cool air you can still have fun

A glass of vino and an open fire

His warm embrace at the end of a cold day

That’s my deepest heart’s desire

Oh please come, take me and carry me away
